Rcc Vs. VCSO dispatch Empty
PostSubject: Rcc Vs. VCSO dispatch   Rcc Vs. VCSO dispatch EmptyMon Jan 21, 2008 1:20 am

I am reading lately that Portorangeimages.com editor Mr. Springer thinks that RCC dispatch that covers Port Orange Police and Fire should be replaced by the VCSO dispatch that covers damn near the whole county. A few things need to be considered before getting on that bandwagon. The city of Daytona Beach is getting ready to suspend using the VCSO dispatch due to the recklessness of the dispatchers and the time of which the service is being dispatched. Here is a story of the test compiled by Dytona Beach PD.
They called in 911 that the store at Mason and US1 had just been robbed. They had one of the bicycle units leave the scene at the time of the call. Heading south they timed how long it would take the dispatcher to give Daytona the call. When the call came in the oficer on the bike had reached Beville and US1. He had made it through the entire city of Daytona Beach before the call went out. Is that what we really want? Money? Sound? Neither of these are and issue when you talk speed of service. Hank and everyone knows that when life or death hang in the balance that time is the MOST important thing there is. I am personally in favor of all cities having there own dispatch that the calls come in to the police station. Fast reliable and affordable.
